Curious about Salt Lamps?

I love salt. Whether its salt water, salty foods, or my latest obsession: Himalayan Salt Lamps.

I especially like Himalayan Salt because it reminds me of my many trips to India. Come join me this Fall with YogaFit, as we journey to Rishikesh.

I have long known that salt lamps infuse the space with positive energy. However, it really hit home for me last Spring, when I spent a week in Costa Rica on retreat. I noticed there were not one, but two salt lamps in my room. It was a very peaceful, healing time for me, that I often don’t give myself.  When I returned back to my home in the busy city, I purchased a few from Zennery.

I usually like to sleep in a completely darkened room, but I keep one in my bedroom on a dim setting. In my living room, my salt lamp is on bright constantly, to reduce the energetic effects of electronic smog.

I regularly sage my living space and always travel with DoTerra’s Wild Orange essential oil. I spray the orange oil around myself often because it acts like sage if you’re in a space where it is not appropriate to be burning sage, for example airplanes, hotels, etc. We’re constantly exposed to other people, and as a highly sensitive person, I am affected by the energy of others. Because I travel so frequently, I am consistently staying in hotel rooms that still contain the residual energy of former residents. I use Wild Orange, combined with water, in an atomizer to clear the space. I spray my bed, pillows and around the room. I also like to spritz a little on my face. Wild Orange has been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, while increasing collagen production, and blood flow, all of which are essential for anti-aging. Using skin products with this essential oil overtime can smooth wrinkles and decrease the gravity of those not so fine lines.

To make your own on-the-go energetic clearing spray:

You’ll Need:

– An 8ml Atomizer/Spray Bottle

– 5 Drops of DoTerra Wild Orange Essential Oil

– 2 Drops of DoTerra Clary Sage Essential Oil

– 2 Drops of DoTerra Citrus Bliss Blend

Anyways back to salt lamps, one of the many benefits of salt lamps is the reduction of  electromagnetic waves. These waves increase vata, but really, any energy affects our energy. Effect can be a good thing, perhaps it’s happy, positive and kind. But if I’m around a someone negative, dark and a tortured soul, I’m aware that will affect my energy too.

All matter: the human body, water, etc. is made up of molecules, which are made up of atoms, which are made up of three types of subatomic particles: protons (positive charge), electrons (negative charge) and neutrons (no charge). Electrons revolve around their nucleus like planets revolve around their star. Occasionally an electron flies off and leaves a positively charged ion. This positive ion’s sole purpose in life is to fill the void of its little lost electron. In other words, it wants to steal a replacement electron from another molecule – I think negative people do this to positive people.

Salt Lamps work to produce negative ions, which results in a positive environment. Negative ions are abundant in nature, especially around waterfalls, on the ocean surf, at the beach and after a storm. They are widespread in mountains and forests. Have you ever felt better after connecting with nature? Negative ions could be who to thank for that!

Negative ions are present in the air we breathe in and they are also present in our bodies. The degree to which negative ions contribute to overall well-being and health is scientifically proven:

* They neutralize free radicals.

* They revitalize cell metabolism.

* They enhance immune function.

* They purify the blood.

* They balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion.

Salt lamps cleanse and neutralize the air, they reduce allergy and asthma symptoms and reduce coughing. They increase energy levels, neutral electromagnetic smog, promote better sleep, improve mood and concentration, treat seasonal affect disorder, and reduce station electricity.
